Balcombe CC

Balcombe Cricket Club Six - A - Side Competition

Competition Rules & Conditions

Competition Structure
The competition will be split into two phases. Phase One will consist of two
divisions of four teams and will involve each team playing each other team in
their division once. The top two teams in each division will then go through to a semi final stage. Teams will be drawn into Groups prior to the event, which will start at 13.00 hours.

Match Structure.
Each match shall be of one innings per team, each innings to be a maximum of five eight-ball overs. The length and the markings of the pitch will be the same as the parent game.
Each fielder shall bowl one over each from a run up restricted to 8 yards.
Any batsman reaching 15 runs shall "retire" but may resume his innings at the fall of the fifth wicket. Any "not out" batsman can continue to bat on with the last batsman until the completion of the fifth over. Batsmen must recommence batting in the order in which they retired.

Player & Team Eligibility.
Teams will be composed of six players who shall be properly attired for the game of cricket. Each team shall declare its squad of players of up to 10 players upon registration. No player shall be eligible to play that was not named in the original squad. No player will be able to swap teams during the competition.
The fielding side must provide a wicket keeper in all matches who must be correctly attired for the game of cricket. This means wearing two pads and wicket keeping gloves. The keeper must stand behind the stumps.
If an injury occurs during a match a substitute may be used, however the normal rules of cricket must be applied, i.e. the substitute would only be eligible to field.
If a substitute is not used the keeper must be swapped over at some point during the innings to allow all five players to bowl at least ONE over.

Scoring ( see scoring sheet )
Normal rules of cricket apply with the following exceptions:
Any balls that are hit over the boundary on the full shall incur a penalty of minus SIX runs.
If a "wide" is bowled (as explained in Local Rules) four runs shall be added to the "wides" column of the scorecard.
If "No ball" is called four runs shall be added to the "no ball" column of the scorecard. Any runs scored from that delivery will be added to the batsman's total.
In both of the above instances no extra delivery will be bowled until the last over.

Dismissals
All dismissals of the parent game shall apply to these matches.
The last batsman will be deemed to be out if the penultimate batsman running with him is run out.

Umpires & Scorers
Balcombe Cricket Club will provide these.

Local Rules
A "wide" shall be called by the Umpire if in his opinion the ball is not within the batsman's reach from his stance position or passes down the leg side without touching the batsman. A ball cannot be called "wide" if it makes contact with the batsman.
The Umpire shall call a "No Ball" if any of the laws of the parent game are infringed. This is particularly relevant to balls that arrive at the batsman above waist level height without having first pitched. These will be called "No Ball"
No underarm bowling shall be permitted. If a bowler is incapacitated during an over the keeper shall take over for the remainder of the over with a replacement fielder taking over the keepers role.
If a team is not able to fulfil a fixture the points shall be awarded to the opposition.
Teams must be changed and ready to play five minutes before the scheduled playing time.
